The original poster could have bought a coach, traveled the county, sold it and retired, before this debate ends.

I'm interested to know what coach had a Cumminbs 6.7 and got 5 MPG. My 36' Tiffin has the 340 HP 6.7 and gets 10.5 MPG.
And yes, the OP could have already purchased their coach but there are still some interesting comments in this thread that go beyond the original question.

2008 Winnebago Journey 39Z, Cummins 6.7, 360HP. Handled horribly in the wind, fuel mileage sucked 5-6.5 at best, white knuckle experience passing trucks. Pulled respectably for engine size versus coach weight. Past tense long gone out of my life. I still stick by my comments and yes the OP could of found a coach and I hope if he has it serves them well.

Yep, but by THEN, the debate will be whether a FISSION powered or FUSION powered coach will be better!

The only people who buy a FISSION powered coach are those who can't afford a FUSION powered coach. [emoji3]

You need to post a warning before you provide this comedic feedback.
After I read your reply while drinking my morning joe, coffee came out my nose.

When we shopped for the DS replacement, 07 was the last year we considered due to emissions. I'm in an American group on Yahoo, and there was recently a discussion on the 08-10 650hp ISX - LOTS of problems, the OP wound up with a $45k bill to replace the engine in Hobbs NM. Apparently not unusual to drop #6 valves resulting in engine replace/rebuild.
As some of the other posts have mentioned, floorplan is important. Our DS had three drawers which would hold a silverware sorter, NONE in the AT. The AT is a nice coach, with lots of small drawers.
From your post, you may not have the luxury of buying a coach and then deciding it isn't the right one. Take your time. We plan to keep the AT for five years, even though there are things we don't like.

Check the Cummins forum on this site, there are several of us with ISX 600 and 650 engines that have dropped the intake valve in #6. Cummins has come out with new parts even special pistons for RV use but is not doing much for owners as far as warranty.

We did not mind going back in age - but did not want to back in quality. Some of the best DP's ever made - Alpine, Country Coach, Foretravel and Monaco were in the 2005 to 2007 range. Each has their own good and bad points so it comes down to what length, floor plan and options that you want. The fun point is trying to find one "for sale by owner' rather than at a dealers. You absolutely need to know some history on the coach. In your looking, remember this --- not always, but usually, if it is at a small dealership it is there because it has serious problems and was usually bought at an auction. We drove to many states only to find that the dealer had mis-represented their coach. We ended up buying a 2006 Alpine Apex - 40ft w/4slides. WOW, what a coach. Country Coach and ForeTravel tend to be way overpriced. On Monaco, we found it more difficult to find their higher trim levels and in satisfactory condition. You can find Knight models all day long.
As for engine. This is our 3rd Cummins. 2 have been the ISL 8.9 liter. One was DEF, one was not. As a general statement - a Cummins is quieter and better on fuel than the Cat engines.

If a rig is "overpriced" then it won't sell and the price will come down. But if they sell at the higher price then that is it's value to someone.
