Caterpillar Computer Question

Anyone using the trip computer have a trick for getting the avg mpg presentation to function?

I have instantaneous mileage, but the average always reads 6.0.

Not even close to what I've been seeing, in the instant mileage display.

Your probably getting 6mpg, average and instant are not the same instant changes every time you step on the gas I leave mine on temp and boost that the wife doesn't see how bad it gets.

The older Freightliner information systems for mpg display are not resettable. Thus it's showing average mpg from the day the chassis was built.

Freightliner fixed this issue with the release of the new information system on new chassis's being built sometime in 2006.

I'm sure you're getting better average mpg now, probably closer to 8mpg.

Freightliner switched over to the resettable system in 6/06. My chassis was manufactured in 4/06 so I too have the old non-resettable system. It takes a lot of miles at the improved mpg to get it to average up .1 of a mpg.

The avg mpg in my 2004 Meridian with a CAT C7 seemed to be stuck, too. After having the latest flash done in the ECM the reading changed.
Having said that, as already mentioned the reading is from day one and it will take a lot of miles at 7 to 8 mpg for it to change.

I have a 2007 Revolution with a Cat C9 400HP. I only get 5 to 6 MPG no matter what. I only drive 60 to 62 with no hills ( I live in FL). No Tow vehicle. Is this the average mpg? Seems a little low compaired to the rest of you. Any suggestions???????

I can accept the 5 or 6; but my computer is frozen. Case in point: I drove back from Santa Fe, coming down out of the mountains, with a significant tailwind enroute, showing high mileage all the while on in instantaneus readout.

The pump verified that I got close to 8 mpg.

But, the computerized avg never waivered from 6.0.
