CB Antenna

Greetings!

Thinking about adding a CB to our coach. Anybody who has done this, how did you mount the antenna?

Thinking about a window mount.

I did a side mount above the driver window for better reception. Works pretty good for me.

You betcha! It's hard to hear the truckers on my cell phone when there's an accident or other road obstruction hindering traffic. The CB is usually quiet but when an issue pops up you hear the chatter ramp up; what lane to be in, alternate routes, ETC!!

You might want to look at this:

Do I need a no-ground-plane antenna?

Firestick has a version:

CATALOG Main Page (Frame Setup)

Probably others do too.

What type of base side mount did you use? Any pics?

I mounted my CB on wall next to driver seat with a glass mount antenna on windshield at center top. Great reception according to my SWR meter and what comes in over radio.

I just did the same thing Tom did. I used a Midland through the glass antenna mounted on the upper left windshield. No holes to drill or mounting issues. The inside part has an adjustable capicator to fine tune the SWRs. So far it is working well. No great distance reception, but works well for short distances.

Yep, I never was able to find a number to call regarding the traffic jam ahead. Thanks to the info on the CB we spent the night in a TGIF parking lot while others sat in traffic for 6 hours.

Yea, that's what I use it for. Some years ago motoring along on I81 and a trucker tells me my sewer hose was coming out of the bumper. Another time they warned us of real bad hail ahead. Very useful.

Once or twice a year we caravan with someone and they are great to keep in touch.

Thanks all, going to look at that Midland.

I just bought a fire stick zero ground plane. Haven't installed it yet. Had a thru the glass unit on my old motorhome. It worked reasonably well.

CB radio----really?????? You can wait for days to hear something useful. The rest of time is filled with silence or filth--time to move on---IMHO....

I ordered the Midland Window Mount CB Antenna Model DBT37844 from Amazon. You can do a search for window CB antenna on Amazon or EBay and find a lot of them.
