CB Channel 13 this weekend!

I know we have had alot of discussion this past couple of weeks about channel 13 on the old CB radio.
Friday we are going to hit the road for a long weekend and we will be on Channel 13! I hope we find some IRV2 folks!!
Any experiences with channel 13 yet?

I am just curious I have not used my CB in years (other than one time I got on the truckers channel for a few minutes when I was stuck in highway work stoppages to see how far it went). Do you not have trouble with high power CB radios blasting to the point you cannot hear anyone else talk and also language that I basically did not like listening to constantly. Last time I used my CB the government had removed the license requirement and the bad element had taken over.

This week I drove from PA to Atlanta, GA for the Good Sam Rally and didn't hear one word on my radio. I even tried to raise other campers without any luck, and to top it off, with thousands and thousands of campers here, not one word. And yes my radio is working. I guess we need more time.

Where can you get the window stickers that say "CB13"?

Hi Tim,

I am sure that my graphics guy could make "CB13" decals for us. I will check with him on what it would cost per decal. I will tell him we need a few colors to not blend on certain coaches and trailer. Maybe Black, White, Gold and Silver.
I am also sure it is going to take some time for the channel 13 thing to catch on again but, I am willing to keep it going to make it work.
Wish you were going to hang with us this weekend Tim! You will be missed :(

Y'all have a good weekend, I'm going commando on Bambi. Got to stock up the freezer. I've seen little ovals, white with black lettering, and didNt really know till now what they ment. Never said I was smart. I have been traveling with cb on 19 and just turned down low, have had truckers give me the all clear over radio when I pas them. The stickers would make it where we could be contacted by others if they needed to. Good campaign you've got started. Got plans for the National IRV2 rally in Myrtle Beach next Sept. maybe y'all can look that over this weekend. Have fun/Be safe!

I like what you're doing. I used to listen to Ch 13 all the time years ago but it seems like it died, just like the CB radio seems to have died. (almost) I always travel with my CB on ch 19 nowadays. I would rather have it on 13 and talk to RVers. You have my vote!

I have 3 CBs in the motor home..

In teh cockpit is a Cobra, top end, on 19, it uses an antenna that is stuck in between the couch and the wall, Good SWR.

Next to it is a vintage Radio Shack (Realistic) on 13, Stubby mag mount on a tool box in the basement. (I can hear you but I'll answer on the cobra)

The third (A hand held) is stored without batteries just now since I have no use for it at this time.

Normally the CBs are on all the time, Moving or parked, less they get annoying (As one just did)

I also monitor 146.53MHZ FM and when parked several other frequencies depending on the time of day both FM and Single Side Band.

Hey guys, just thought that I'd chime in here.
CB is really not used much these days. You'd probably hear more on the FRS (Family Radio Service) & GMRS (General Mobile Radio Service) (the little handheld radio / walketalkies that the hunters use)

If you really want to get information or have someone to talk to while on the road or at your destination I would encourage you to get your amateur radio licence. You can get your tech class license (no Morse code required) with a little studying in your spare time and then take a test.

Most county's will have an ARES group (Amateur Radio Emergency Service) they usually hold radio licence classes a couple times a year, some do them monthly. You can get a study guide book online at Ham Radio Outlet - World's Largest Supplier of Amateur Radio (Ham Radio) Equipment. Sales, Supplies, and Service., there are free online practice tests that you can test your studies on before you go take your exam.

After you get your license you can get a mobile radio to replace you CB unit. Amature moblie radios can be purchased for $150 - $250 with output power capability that far exceeds CB. If you use local repeaters you can talk great distances. I can easily talk to someone anywhere in my state.

A little studying and knowledge could turn into a new hobby with armature radio. I use my amateur radio skills and volunteer to help our local search and rescue service by helping with communications during searches and local emergencies.

I removed the cobra cb radio. It's a dead past-time.

I’m in. Great tool to get info on traffic and other things. Helpful in the event of a breakdown or emergency. Newer CB’s also have NOA Weather channel broadcasts.
How do I get a couple of decals?
