I’m in. Great tool to get info on traffic and other things. Helpful in the event of a breakdown or emergency. Newer CB’s also have NOA Weather channel broadcasts.

I only use my CB for weather station. I will try 13 on my winter trip!

I used to be very involved with Citizens Band Radio I still remember my call numbers KBHY5999. I moved overseas for several years and when I returned I bouth a really nice single sideband base and mobile. When I first keyed it up the vulgarity and bleed was unbelievable. I started looking into the change and found out that the FCC had deregulated the CB industry and you no longer had to have a license. They also quit enforcing the rules. If you wanted to have a huge linear amplifier that bled over into 6 channels either side of the one you were on they did not care any more. I have not used my CB since. I will try monitoring channel 13 when I travel and see how it works out. I hope it can be as enjoyable as it was in the 70s.

I agree with a lot of the posts, if you don't want to have one then don't. Geesh.
I am a X trucker and used mine all the time if there was someone being nasty then I changed channels or turned it off. I found my old cobra from those days long ago and it didn't work so I bought a new Cobra and wow pretty cool almost done installing it. I tried it and nothing on 13 or 19 just doing a radio check and nothing. We are not even a mile from the hwy I am installing a stick type antenna. Do they still sell the type antenna that you can use both a cb and the stereo? I also bought 4 audio books to listen too, I am not sure how the cb will affect my listening to the books The weather channel is great. Channel 13 it is in our MH. I am looking forward to using it on our winter get away.

Great idea. CBs seem a lot less popular these days, but they are still an inexpensive add-on. In some ways I wish that we could get folks to use FRS/GMRS channel 7. Better audio quality, easy to find the radios locally, work reasonably well over distances. GMRS requires a license if operating at power above FRS. I've found on family trips together that we get about 2 miles car to car out the handhelds on FRS power.

We use our radios when we are in camp with friends. Has been very useful, esp in areas where there is poor or no cell coverage.

(Channel 13 on FRS is available as well, but does not have a GMRS option). Frequencies of FRS/GMRS are of course different from CB.

I'm in as well! Channel 13 it is! CB radios aer really better than cell phones, as all you do is push the 'talk' button and communicate! No need to try to dial and drive at the same time!
