Ceiling Mount

In many of the higher end coaches you will see decorative medallions, mirrors and high gloss wood framing on the ceiling. I would like to add the same to the ceiling of my Bounder. I have a good spot picked out and a nice looking piece I made to go there. It weights less than 8 pounds, so I don't think weight is a problem.
But I am unsure of the construction of the roof. Are the ceiling joists wood or aluminum? And are they 16" on center or some other amount?
And like other RVs, I have a strip every so often going the width of the unit. I believe this strip is covering the ceiling panel ends. Can I assume under this strip is the end of the panel, and thus a joist is under it?
There's alot of knowledge on this forum and I thought I'd ask before I drilled a hole in the ceiling.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I think there are just some small ceiling joists. You can see some in this web link on a new rig.

The roof cap usually provides the rigidity.

In your year of coach there should be aluminum or steel joists. There is no standard as to where they are located at and vary from model to model. Got to remember that these roofs are made on a table and pressed/glued together by rocket scientists. I would try a electronic stud finder, but finish the location process with a tiny drill bit. Make sure your roof bling clears your slides when they are retracted. Got any pix?

Pull some of your lights down. You can then take a coat hangar, stick it in the hole and figure out where the framing runs across the roof. Take measurements and mark on the ceiling with blue tape.
