Ceramic RV coating

I’m toying with the idea of having a ceramic coating applied to the exterior of the coach. Supposed to be much better than waxing every year....Have any of you folks done this and are you happy with it ??

Thanks,
Greg

I think the "ceramic" part is 99% sales hype, but do NOT have any personal experience to give you.

You can't wipe on a ceramic coating, or even paint it on. I suppose you can put some powdered ceramic in any solution, but so what?

Most protectant coatings these days are synthetics rather than natural wax, and everybody has their magic formula to tout. They all "bond to the surface" and they all have incredible properties of shine, UV resistance, etc. Adding a bit of ceramic material doesn't seem to me to be of any real benefit, except to the purveyors of the products.

but its your call...

I agree with Gary. This sounds like a lot of "I read it on the Internet" so it must be good. I'll stay with the tried and true Carnuba Paste but hey, it's your money.

I don't see any way that a "ceramic coating" could be applied and have any affect. There is no way for it to bond with the surface it's applied to.

The ceramic skillets are supposed to last forever, that's what they say, so I guess it's a "wonder product" when applied to an RV. Just think, with all the magic qualities of copper, hey I heard that in the internet and TV too, someone could combine the ceramic and copper and it would last forever. Maybe I could put some on the batteries and they wouldn't die either.

Think I'm going to suggest that to some Australian accented TV product pusher.

I think "Ceramic" is not such a good choice of a word to describe the product:

ceramic

of or relating to products made from clay and similar materials, as pottery and brick, or to their manufacture:

OMG...doing that to a motorhome would take at least a week...
how long does it last?

Paint protectant works. I have an auto accessory shop and we used to do the undercoating, fabric protection and paint protection. We used Impact coatings then. We had all black cars and it lasted about 3 years before we needed to redo them. It cut the car washing by about 75%.
This year we will be buffing the coach and applying Opticoat on it hoping to not have to redo it for at least 5 years and eliminate waxing. I don't sell this product or service but if it works as well as the ole days products I will be very happy not waxing the coach twice a year.
