changed MH search parameters

My original ones still stand but have added two more--need a diesel generator that is accessible for service and repair. Like slide out.

Increased budget from $20,000 to $30,000.

As previous except for budget-I didn't see a edit link so couldn't change it.

Diesel pusher, 8.3 Cummins, 6 sp. Allison
Diesel Generator

Dinette, sofa, and rear bed.
50 Amp service
No longer than 38 feet
No Slides-have some flexibility here if necessary.
Chassis-I'll have to take what I get with the above criteria
But this may be the deal breaker--$20,000 budget.

8.3 for the torque--want to tow Honda Odyssey

The edit button goes away after about an hour after you post. Pretty standard.

Change to departure control frequency...cleared for takeoff.

I did a quick search on RVTRader.com just to see what I could find. What I couldn't find was something that met all of your conditions. OK...I didn't look real hard because I would have to have gone through details and look up brochures to get an idea of all the features.

My general concern is that in the price range you specify and the features you are asking, it is gonna be a lot of hard work for you. Nothing wrong with that but it won't be easy.

As has been mentioned before, at those price ranges you will get older units and that means the odds are you will put out a lot of $$$ after the buy to get them up to snuff. Spending more up front might save more later but even that is no guarantee.

The following link was a search I did including gasser models. I don't know what your expectations are but the highest curb weight of the Odyssey is about 4600# but after adding gas and anything I would be concerned about a 5000# hitch unless you got it weighed with full fuel and normal items it would carry to verify it's towing weight. Under 5000# would be within range for most gas MHs.

New and Used RVs For Sale - Other, Fleetwood, Winnebago, Coachmen, Holiday Rambler - RVTrader.com

You will have your work cut out for you...Good Luck!

Regarding "8.3 for the torque--want to tow Honda Odyssey", don't overlook units with the 3126 Cat engine. I tow an Odyssey with no problems with my 330hp cat engine.

I'm sure the Cats would do it but don't want a Cat. We have them on two boats and the parts cost more and mechanic availability is less. The Truck business makes the Cummins in the MH really attractive.

Also keep in mind the Cat C7 does NOT have cylinder sleeves in the block. These things are prone to breaking rings, broken wrist pins, unusual wear patterns due to cylinder warpage from excessive heat, thin sidewall. Should it ever hurt itself it requires over-boring and a substantially greater amount of work for a rebuild. When those things fail they fail in a big way - generally under 60,000 miles.

Going to concentrate search for a 90s Monaco. There seem to be a lot of them and they have the cummins and the allison tx with slide out generators in the mid to later years. Thanks for all the information.

Keep an eye on Craigslist as well. We found our (new to us) Allegro bus there.
