Changed Tire Myself!

wouldn't it be much easer to just call road service in the first place?
Ive pulled front wheels to pack wheel bearings; or check brake pads, but the back ones----I don't think so.

I bought a 3 to 1 torque multiplier and 250 ft pound torque wrench from Northern Tool for my 475 foot pounds of torque lug nuts. I got the 33 MM 1 inch drive socket and extension from Grainger.
I don't expect to change a tire myself but I have yet to see a tire shop, RV service shop or road side service truck with the proper tools to do the job.

I am sure there are some out there that do but the four shops and two road service guys I talked to didn't.
At least I can follow up and set the torque properly now if needed.

i carry a harbor freight 42" long 600'# 3/4 drive torque wrench and socket set as well as good sam road service. this torque wrench torques both l and r threaded nuts.
i also carry an unmounted spare tire in case the road service tech cannot fix my tire and didn't bring the right size new michelin with him.
it will be necessary to re-torque (475'#) any wheel that is removed within about 1000 miles.
i have the tst truck wireless pressure and temperature system to give me an early warning in case of trouble.

I try not to change them any more, so you are my hero.

The biggest I ever changed was on a 5 ton bridge truck in Vietnam. When the tire was stood up it stood about 5 feet tall.

I tore all the muscles on the right side of my lower back lifting it the wrong way. I never went on sick call for it, and consequently never got disability VA pension for it. Over the years it got worse and caused me early retirement from my job in manufacturing.

I lifted and changed others in the intervening years, but not any more.
