Have a 08 Winnebago Vectra, rear radiator, 45,000 mi. How often should I have the radiator coolant changed and or flushed. Haven't sinced new but have the whatever checked for the right level of chem in the coolant. Cost?

Follow the recommendations of the engine manufacturer. You could have the coolant tested to be sure it's inhibitors and pH is where it should be. Also make sure to carry the proper coolant to top off the overflow tank when needed. Adding plain water or the wrong coolant is much more damaging to the health of your engine and radiator than anything else.

Coolant is important in a diesel engine. Your owners manual will have a lot of information about how to properly maintain engine coolant. I think you might have a Cummins ISL in your coach so you can also go to Cummins Quickserv on-line to get information about your engine.

What type of coolant came from the factory? Even the extended interval coolant recommends it be changed about every five years.

Since you have the original OEM coolant, you might want to see what Winnebago says. The chassis manufacturer puts the coolant in, not the engine maker. I talked to DD and Freightliner...got totally opposite answers as to what to put in it.

It's certainly time to change it out. If I were you I would order a coolant sample kit from JG Lube Services and send a sample in for analysis. That will give you a picture of the health of your coolant and if you potentially have any issues in the engine. If the only problem with the coolant is age, then there is no need for a chemical flush when you change. You can drain and rinse a couple of times with plain old water and then refill. I would go back with Fleetguard ES Compleat EG. It's a conventional heavy duty diesel coolant and will need you to continue checking DCA level. You can go with one of the OAT type coolants also. Fleetguard has one.
