Do like I did. Call Allison Tech support and ask them how to identify the correct synthetic fluid for their transmissions. They told me to look for the "Meets TES-295 spec"on the container it is the correct fluid.

Check out this site!

RV Tech Library - Allison Transmissions

The article contains the entire fluid change procedure for the Allison 3000 Series in addition to all the Allison Approved Fluids which meet TES295 Specs.

Click on the Blue Allison Approved Logo and you'll get the listed Approved Fluids!

I just read that tech article, it is great, and I'll print it and keep it for reference, trans fluid and filters are on my springtime menu, but....

Can someone verify the torque specs listed?
38-45 FOOT lbs is VERY TIGHT!

Shouldn't it be INCH-LBS?

As I said, just because it says that it meets Allison TES-295 specs does not mean it been tested and approved by Allison as actually meeting them. It must be tested, approved and carry the blue Allison logo.
That's a favorite trick of Amsoil, they say it "meets" a spec or "is designed to meet" but it's never actually been approved by the equipment manufacturer of the equipment.

Allison Service Interval Calculator
There is a difference in service intervals, depending upon whether or not you are running the generic Dexron style C-4 fluid or the synthetic Transynd fluid. Allison recently opened up the requirements to allow some other synthetic fluids to be used. However, not all are approved. They must meet Allison's TES-295 specifications in order to be listed on the approved list. Information on these fluids can be found at the Approved Allison TES-295 Fluids link. Freightliner began installing Transynd fluid in their chassis as of 1/2/04. If you have this fluid you can use the extended service intervals. There should be a decal near the transmission dipstick tube stating to only fill with Transynd if this is the case.

Just but the real stuff, this is not the area where you want to save a buck or two. Call around for prices and stay away from Wal-mart.
