Chassis Ground

First time I've posted anything here so hopefully I'm doing it right..I have a 2000 Monaco Dynasty I purchased earlier this year while I was replacing a manifold gasket a few days ago I noticed a broken Ground cable. One end bolts to the back of the coach on the frame and the other end is broken off forward of there about 3-4 feet still tied to the frame but it looks like it had a connection of some sort crimped to it. Kind of a shot in the dark but being such a heavy gauge cable it must serve some purpose.

You need a battery negative to frame, another cable needs to run from the frame to the engine block, another cable needs to run to a metal part of the body maybe siding, cowl structure, etc. I'm guessing the cable you see once went to a transmission mount bolt, or starter mount bolt.

If your starter motor has a negative post, it may go on there with the negative cable to the battery.

Its important to keep them clean an connected so that the lights, electronics, and other items can correctly ground to the batteries...

Thanks I should have mentioned its on the opposite side of the engine from the starter. My first thought was it was to run to the engine as well but I just can't see where it may have connected to. I will crawl under it again tomorrow and check for possibly running to the body somehow I never thought of that. While I'm in there I'll take the time to clean the connections up.
