Chassis Lube - What Brand of NLGI #2?
This is probably one of the least discussed topics on this board, as I couldn't find threads on it... Last years I had Coastal All Purpose NLGI #2 grease in hands so I used it. Now It's time for me to do the chassis lube again but I am not sure I used the right one, especially for the drive shaft/slips.
Does anyone have a recommendation on the grease?

Plenty of grease discussion on another forum I frequent, and a general rule of thumb is that the red, Mobil 1 synthetic grease is always a good bet.
Available most everywhere.

Will this mix with all other grease? Or is that not nessesary if all the previous grease is pumped out with the new grease?

I always feel it's more important to grease more often than which grease to use.
I use Mystik JT-6 Hi-Temp Grease No. 2. for everything from my tractor to Toyota Sequoia to the motorhome. It's a high temperature and high pressure grease and readily available at places like Tractor Supply and Rural King for around $4. https://www.mystiklubes.com/do/produ...EASE/665005002
I also use a Lincoln Pneumatic Grease Gun that I love. It sure makes greasing so much easier and less messy. Pneumatic Grease Guns
And you can't forget disposable gloves. I use either 7 or 9 mil Nitrile Powder-Free Gloves. 9 is a bit thick but really strong. 7 is just about right for me. 9 mil Nitrile Powder-Free Gloves 50 Pc X-Large

X's 2 on the Lincoln grease gun. I've used all kinds and there's none out there for the DIY person that is any better.
Still lean always towards the synthetic lubes both in oil and grease. Why not use the best??? That just males more sense.

Polyurea grease is the one that cannot be mixed with other types.
I like and use napa #2 general purpose grease.
For driveshaft slide yoke -- recommended is: molybdenum disulfide lithium base. Because you are lubricating two metal surfaces.

Country Coach recommends Lithium stearate multi-purpose grease meeting the requirements of NGLI Grade 2 grease for my 2007 chassis/drive shaft lube.
I pay attention to the Lithium stearate base meeting NGLI Gr2.

Mobil 1 is lithium-complex based. Most, but not all, commonly-used chassis lubes are also lithium-based.
There is a high degree of probability that your application is compatible, but no more assurance than with the use of other brands.
You are wise to question grease compatibility!
Polyurea greases are most commonly found in electric motor bearings and belt idler pulleys.
Be careful with power grease guns, as there are applications where you don't want the grease to be inserted too quickly. Grease sometimes needs to "flow" to prevent a blown seal. This won't commonly pop up in a chassis lube situation, but it's "out there" and you should be aware of it.

I use a calcium sulfonate#2 grease. I had a fleet of class 8 trucks and I found that changing to this grease tripled kingpin and tie rod end life.
I second the comment on power grease guns. Go slow and let it flow. Fast does bad things.

I think you will find almost all general purpose greases are "Lithium stearate multi-purpose grease meeting the requirements of NGLI Grade 2". I just checked the data sheet for the grease I use (see post #6 ) and it does.
