Chassis: Roadmaster vs Spartan

I ve been doing some searching for a larger DP. I m looking at two in particular.

An 04 Monaco Camelot PDQ with a Roadmaster chassis

A 05 Newmar Kountry Star 3909 with the Spartan.

Both units are the same length. The Monaco has a 350 hp Cummins and the Newmar has a 330 hp.

We presently own a HR Neptune with a Roadmaster.

Are there any advantages/disadvantages between these two chassis'?

I was rather surprised that the Newmar had a Spartan. I thought Newmar was in the Monaco/HR/Beaver family of coaches.

Thanks,eh?

Newmar uses either the Spartan or FL chassis, our 2000 DSDP was on a FL and our 2002 DSDP had the optional Spartan.

I can testify that the Roadmaster is superb.

I own a Newmar '07 with Spartan Cummins 350 . In laws bought a '06 HR with a Roadmaster chassis, and Cummins330. It has the radiator in the rear, mine is on the side. We recently completed a 2600 mile trip to Maine. We filled up together, drove the same roads, at the same speeds. They got better mileage at every fill up. I averaged 7.5 mpg. I didn't do their math, but if I bought 80 gallons, they were buying 70. I think they were getting about 8.5, or better.

It would depend on the chassis in the Camelot. I don't remember which is in which model. The RR 8 R and S and RR 10 R and S are almost without peer. The last S or R denotes either tear or side radiator. Side is best. My opinion, other will disagree!
