You had some moisture in the LP. You do NOT have to worry about insulating the tank. This is a unusual occurence. The gas man can add more gas mixed with a drying agent to the tank and you will have no more problems.

Exactly in a tank that probably holds twenty plus gallons? How did they weigh it? Something doesn't sound right or does he have portable tanks? If so just switch tanks to check it.

I guess I will do some more checking, the tank shut off is normal right closed left open. I don't know if its a two stage valve, I ran the heat hard last night maybe to rid the problem. Thanks for all help, I will keep up on this. I did learn that this MH don't take temperature in the 30'S well.

Insulating a tank will just make any problem worse.

I agree that the valve is normal...(aka: propane shut off valves turn on/off in the same rotation as water faucets).
However...ONLY the "POL connector" to the shut off valve on LP tanks, (and the POL connectors to the shut of valve on portable cylinders), are left hand thread.
(ALL OTHER propane line/pipe/hose/fitting connections are right hand thread).

Don't insulate the tank. As the liquid propane converts to gas, in the tank, it uses heat up. So the tank will naturally get colder and you need to have heat transfer back into the tank from the surrounding air environment.

If you have moisture in the cylinder, it must be purged before re-filling. Every LP gas supplier has the equipment to perform a purge. NEVER open the cylinder valve when it is not connected to the propane piping system or you risk introducing moisture into the cylinder. No LP system plays well with moisture.

Even that is not true today. The "new" LP connection-with external brass threads on the cylinder valve head has right-handed threads. The old connection that had to be tightened with a 3/4" wrench had left-hand threads, they are not used for RV connections on newer RV's since the OPD valves were mandated.

Never seen any place that fills by weight, always sold by gallon. Probably meant 8 gallons

Here in WA the dealer is required to use a certified, temperature compensated pump to fill tanks with. The law makers finally got wise to short filling tanks and charging for a full tank although the prefilled ones in the stores still only have about 3� gallons in them but at least the signs say that (in small, hard to read print though)!

Unlike "on board", (AGS/DOT approved), RV LP tanks... reliable LP dealers fill portable LP tanks/ bottles/cylinders by weight and charge by the gallon.

Many Thanks for your response to my questions. I was leaking propane when I went to check the coach. Not enough to be a danger so I made sure that I did the righty tighty to make sure my pro[pane was off I tried lighting the gas range and would not lite.

Where were you leaking propane??
Was it from the service valve and if it was.....did you have valve fully opened and back seated. Service valves should be fully open or fully closed. Any position in between they can leak.....which means packing gland nut needs to be tightened but only enough to stop leak while opening/closing valve. Tighten it too much and valve becomes VERY difficult to turn
So where was leak?

I fill the two 40 lb cylinders for my 5th wheel at the same place I get my MH DOT tank filled, both are metered by the gallon. I suppose the meter could be calibrated to display gallons but the actual amount would be lbs as longs as the meter is temperature corrected.
