Checking Transmission fluid?

I was wondering if anyone else has been told that the dip stick for the oil system is the same dip stick to check the transmission fluid. I went to check the fluid level and there was not dip stick attached to the handle?

The transmission level is checked with the transmission keypad with it at operating temp and on a level surface. Check your Allison owners manual for the procedure

you check the fluid level on a allison transmission with the key pad.
it needs the fluid to be warm and parked on a level spot.
push both the up and down buttons at the same time and the little screen will flash the level,
i am not sure which transmission you have so it would be best to check your manual or on line for the codes
sorry for the repetition slow fingers at work.

Thanks for all the information. I checked the level on my shift pad and the level was ok.

The handle only with no dipstick is for topping up transmission fluid. The transmission dipstick is directly above the transmission accessible in our Scepter through the cover in the bedroom floor. The easiest way to check oil level as mentioned already here is follow Allison's instructions using the transmission controller key-pad.
