Chip in windshield
Had a stone hit the windshield leaving a small chip. Does anyone know if the same procedure used on smaller car windshields will work on MH'S? Another question is has anyone with GMAC ins. had any experience with their reaction to a claim? Thanks!

Yes. Glass co's can repair that. I would pay for it out my own pocket as it is inexpensive.

Yes, the patch process is the same. I've had it done a couple times.
No experience with GMAC, but Allied uses some national windshield repair facilitation company, and had the local Safelite shop come out to do the fix. When we had chips while in Alaska, there wasn't a local Safelite and I found a local shop to do it. Allied reimbursed me for the repair.
My policy is in Texas, and has no deductible for a windshield that can be repaired. Deductible does apply if the windshield has to be replaced.

I have 0 ded for chips or replacement , however I also have a disappearing ded. ( lowered by $100 each claim free year ). A glass claim will put my ded. back up to $500 for future claims that are subject to a ded. That's why I would pay this small repair.

Had one repaired On my mh about 8 years ago. Finally cracked and I had it replaced a week ago. Luckily in Fl we have zero deductible on windshield replacement.

Most insurers will pay 100% for a repair (as opposed to replacement) because it saves them money in the long run. Check with your agent - it probably won''t affect a "disappearing deductible" either. I know it does not in Florida, but rules/procedures vary by state.

had this done recently. Its $45 for the first repair... then $10 for each additional upto 2.
I wouldnt bother with an insurance claim. Those in "free glass" States could file a claim, but its generally not worth anyones time.

My windshield resembles the back stop for a BB gun tournament. Had lots of them done, Do it as soon as you can. Safelite did my last one. Very responsive.

According to my Allstate agent, you pay more for the disappearing deductible policy than the basic policy. If you have no claims, you just wasted money for the same coverage as the basic policy. If you do have a claim, they are just giving the money you paid for the disappearing deductible policy back to you.
I have full glass coverage on all my vehicles and if I have a claim, it does not affect my rates. One phone call got both my MH windshields replaced. The left one only had chips, but my agent recommended replacing both and the seal.

Like you've already intimated , AZ is weird. My policy in Fl doesn't charge extra.

Mass. has windshield coverage. Had a chip fixed in 2010, and it cracked this spring. The company replaced the windshield. Haven't driven yet, hope it worked!

If you're saying the basic and vanishing deductible policies are the same price, I ain't believing it. Why would they even have two or more policies?
