Class A Rentals in Arizona?

HI - I'm not sure this is the best forum to post this, but thought I'd start here. We are planning to attend the Boot Camp and Escapade in Arizona next March. We've been given great advice to rent an RV (We won't have one yet, we're still getting ready) and use the opportunity to understand how things work, to meet many of you and better prepare ourselves for making our RV choice. I've done enough research to think that a Diesel Pusher between 35 and 40 feet will likely meet our needs. Further, it looks like Newmar, Tiffin and possibly Entegra make the kind of RV's that would likely meet those needs. All that said, there are 2 or 3 RV rental co's that look good on "paper", but I don't know if they would be good to rent from. We will be flying in from Massachusetts, so we won't know what we're getting into (we wouldn't anyway because we have not really spent any time in a Class A before) until we get there. The 3 that seem to be pretty decent from looking online are:

GOING PLACES RV RENTAL
HEIGHTENED PATH RV RENTAL
SOUTHEAST ARIZONA RV RENTALS

Does anyone have any experience with any of these folks? Anyone have other choices they would recommend for renting a Class A Diesel Pusher? Would you recommend I post this on a different forum on the site?

Thank you all for you help and guidance!

Ian

I know Lazy Days has a large store in Tucson. I believe they offer rentals as well.

They do (or at least did) offer rentals until at least very recently. Not cheap, but available (I think in the $1800-$2500+ per week range, depending on what you want)

According to LazyDays web site they only rent out of Colorado and Tampa, not Arizona.

I would try Craigslist. There are private rentals available, That's how I "tried" it a few years back. After you do all of the hard work on the computer and negotiating I would bet that someone from this site would go check it out in person for you. I should be able to help you out.

X2 on the CL suggestion. I often see rentals there.

I just bought my first RV and gave a lot of thought to renting one before I made the leap but decided it was just not worth it and here is why.

1. A 26' class A or comparable class C rented for about $1500 per week with 100 "free" miles per day and then .50 per mile after that.

We want to take a 10 or 12 week vacation this coming spring for about 8000 to 10,000 miles or maybe a little more. $1500 X 10 + $15,000 + $500 or more in extra miles + another $3000 if we took 12 weeks with probably another couple of hundred in misc stuff to rent or buy for the RV. So the rental would have cost somewhere us somewhere around $16,000-$19,000.

2. A lot of what I saw on Craigslist did not appear to be in very good shape and while cheaper than renting from a dealer they still only want to give 50 to 100 miles per day.

To me renting one for a couple of days would not tell me if I like the RV world or not so instead we bought a 2015 Wiinebago Vista 26HE for $58,500 and will spend a couple hundred on "stuff" I think I need or want. I can take the 10 or 12 week trip, live in my own place, not have to worry about being back home on a particular date, not driving a rig with lots and lots of miles on it and if I don't like the RV world (I think I will) I could sell it for probably $45,00-$48,00 (maybe a bit more)without much trouble. Just seemed like this made more sense in the long run.
