If you intend to keep your "toad" then you need to look at tow ratings closely. You need to be at the 10K or higher rating. Unfortunately there is no hard rule i.e. gasser= 5k, diesel=10k. Too many variables.

Thanks - the land cruiser is 6k lbs... dry .... but I am reading there are issues with full time AWD ?

Would hate to get rid of it - just a beast of a truck

I will most likely get a 45ft - DP with tag and +10k towing capability ...

Big fan of Cummins as well ..... had common rails on some of the boats and just trouble free powerplants

The Essex is very nice. Key will be how we'll the previous owner took care of it. As I sadly learned, just because its an expensive newer rig doesn't mean it got the care it deserved.

Also for your price point, definitely look at Entegra. Could go new there with a 2year warranty with all the latest bells and whistles.

Its funny, as a boater I understand the RV community ... The main difference so far - is realizing how "inexpensive" Rving is to boating ..

I just helped my friend move his boat from Miami to Maine for the summer .... He burns around 40 gallons an hour which equates to .25 gallons per mile ... So on a 1700 mile run we burned 30k worth of fuel... Thats ONE way .... he will burn more against the gulf stream heading home ... and when we pulled into port - it was around $500 a day to dock ...

So ------- costing $.50 cents a mile is really refreshing .....
And no more scrapping and painting the hull. For a few hundred dollars RV detailers in Florida will wash and wax your rig!!!

Check out the Entega MH line also. They make a great coach. Good luck shopping.

Thanks - Understood....

As with boats I would have a PPI done by a qualified tech..... My guess is most guys maintain the Gen, AC, Pumps, etc on your own... and bring her in for the big stuff...

So when I am looking for a deal - I would ask seller upfront for documentation on; Engine, Brakes, Generator and chassis service? ... What did I miss?

My guess is that it will be 3 to 4 years old with under 30k on the clock ...

I'd ask where the servicing was done so that you could ask that outfit directly. Sometimes you can learn a lot by talking to the techs that actually worked on it. A long shot, but if the logistics line up could be good. I found out from one I was talking to that the rig I was looking at was a lemon; another was in an accident, etc.. (Also, seriously check out the Entegras ) . Best of luck and let us all know what you decide on!
