Class A Widths
Hi all - I am searching for an Class A motor home no more than 98" wide.
This is proving difficult as the width is rarely listed.
I have been told by two different salespeople (online), that the 1994 Fleetwood Flair is 8' wide and 8' 6" wide respectively. One said he'd gone out and measured it and it was exactly 8'.
Does anyone know how wide they actually are, (excluding mirrors, handles etc), - it would be refused entry at Customs if over 8'.
Did Fleetwood make any models 8' wide? I really like their coaches, but it's proving very difficult. Must be 1996 or older too.
Thanks

It might help if you post exactly what you are trying to do and why is Customs involved, as well as why it has to be 1996 or older.

Must be 1996 or older too.
Missed the cut off by one year......... my 1997 Itasca Suncruiser was 8 feet wide on a Ford 460 chassis.

I believe 102 inches is the answer.

Class A widths
Thanks everyone for your input....
Well, Hit_the_Rhode, it is because of our regulations here in NZ. Importing vehicles involves Customs and certain entry requirements.
No wider than 8' (98" actually), and the year I'm looking for is simply because vans 20 years or older don't have to meet our very stringent emission and frontal impact regulations. (Strange, but true!).
I started out looking for 2004 to around 2006, but found they wouldn't comply with the new standards.
We don't mind an older vehicle anyway, as some are in very nice nick. Just makes things easier all round.
My problem has been finding out the widths - heaps of info, but the width is rarely listed. Hope that clarifies things for you.
Gruelens - The Itasca Suncruiser is one of the models I have sourced as being 8', along with the Sunflyer, Chieftan, and Adventurer.
I can't however find anything about Fleetwood, Tiffin or Coachmen widths.
I'll just keep plodding along with it.
Cheers

Documentation on them isn't readily available, but I think that a Holiday Rambler Navigator will meet your age and size requirements in a diesel coach.

You might want to look at the Tiffin Breeze. They are a down sized class A that is 7'6" wide and lower in height. Some have been converted to RHD and sold in Australia. Might want to check directly with Tiffin and see what they can do for you.

The mid 90's is when most manufacturers started building "wide body" (102") units. I suspect that most stuff you find as not being listed is probably 96" wide, as there was nothing to advertise. You can find some units specifically advertised as being "wide body" designs, that may help narrow down within a particular manufacturer when they switched.
That said, most Winnebago brochures list the overall width. In the Adventurer line, looks like wide bodies came in 1995: 1995 Adventurer brochure
All the brochures are available in their resources section of the website.

There haven't been many non-widebody (102") models since the mid-90's, as tderrone already explained. Your chances if finding an older one at 96" are pretty good, but the spec isn't likely to be advertised and often owners don't know either. Odds are the Flair you saw is 96", but I can't guarantee that.
Winnebago has their old sales brochures online, so that's one good source. Fleetwood has a brochure archive, but few entries before about 1999.

Thanks to you all for your help.
Gary - I have found a 'specs' sheet on the Winnebago site which gives all the widths for 1996 models. The Adventurer 34RQ is 8', so thanks for the link.
Fleetwood remains a mystery though. I might try calling them to see if anyone can answer the width question.
