My sister-in-law is about to purchase a Roadtrek class B motor home. Can any of you give me your experience in discounts off MSRP buying new?

When we bought our Class A DP last year, we got 27% off MSRP. Should she expect 20%?

One of the sales people she is working with at American RV in Grand Rapids has told her that they can't keep Class B's in stock - selling like hotcakes. Hard for me to believe in this economy. Any thoughts from you folks?

I think she should ABSOLUTELY expect AT LEAST 20% off MSRP.

IF you can determine the REAL MSRP (many dealers create their own version and try to pass it off as the MSRP), I believe you should be able to get somewhere between 20% and 30% off that figure, ESPECIALLY in today's RV market. Yes, smaller rigs are selling better than bigger ones in most markets, but most dealers and mfgs are still hurting for buyers. If that dealer isn't hurting enough to want to make a sale, find another dealer who is. I would let the dealer know I am definitely ready to buy, throw around some other dealer names where I am also looking, and make him an offer. He can always say no, or come back with a counter. Then you can go from there.

Even on a Sprinter-based coach, you should expect 20% or more.

Thanks for the responses. There first offer to her was 13% off list. I'll give her this additional thinking.

Another update: dealer in Wisconsin has offered 22% off list for a new 2008. Includes a $1,000 rebate from Roadtrek to help clear out the '08 inventory.
