Clean water smells

Hey all, it's or first camping trip in our mh, and the clean water smells like the inside of a pumpkin. Any thoughts?

Just needs to be sanitized?

Thanks

Sanitizing would be a good place to start. 1/4 cup of Clorox to each 15 gallons of water.

Sounds like you just answered your own question, use 1/4cup of bleach for each 10 gallons of water, turn on all faucets then let it sit for several hours then flush with clean water.

Found out that it is only the hot water. Smells just like the inside of a pumpkin. Maybe I'll flush thehot water heater while I'm here.

The hot water tank probably never got completely drained/winterized prior to closing it up for the winter. I always remove the drain plug to remove as much water as possible, I do this even after every time I use it throughout the summer. It really doesn't take water that is standing around to get pretty rank soon. I'd recommend the same remedies as suggested above for the hot water tank and hot water lines, you should be good to go then.

I use use 1/4cup of bleach for each 10 gallons of water, turn on all faucets then let it sit for several hours then flush with clean water as stated above. I then add apple cyder viniger to the tank, let it stand for several hours, then flush. The apple cyder viniger removed the clorine taste.

That's why I don't like those pumpkin filters. :-)
I think 1/4 cup per 15 gallons is a bit much. Maybe that 1/4 cup to 50 gallons would suffice. Otherwise it will take a lot of flushing of the tank to get rid of the chlorine.

Some hot water drain plugs have a metal anode the prevents corrosion. I removed mine and chlorinated the system to cure funky smells from the faucet.
