Cleaning frig sensor clip

I just noticed today that the little metal sensor that clips on the fins in a Norcold frig is somewhat corroded. My first thought was, I need to take a brass bristle brush to it, but the corrosion is also down in the crack of the clip too. What do you all think about me making a thick baking soda & vinegar paste and painting it all over that clip to dissolve that crud and restore to clean metal? Or should I just use some thin fine sand paper to it?

Clean with baking soda paste and vinegar soak then rinse and dry
Or use CLR soak then rinse and dry

Clip is just a clip used to hold thermistor.
Thermistor does the sensing so place thermistor in clip with tip just protruding from top of clip and then attach to same fin (10th on most models/3rd on some models)

OK, I really felt kinda stupid posting this silly simple question, but I thought that maybe this clip was a special alloy or something to help the temp sensor work right and I didn't want to ruin it by cleaning it the wrong way. So thanks for the advice & clearing that up.

My thermistor failed a couple of months ago. Freezer was cold, refrigerator was not cold. When getting a new thermistor, I picked up a new metal clip to replace the rusted one, at my local rv parts dealer. Easy and inexpensive.
