Cleaning rubber roof-what to use?
I am sure this has been brought up many times but I don't want to do a search and find "old" information as new products and ideas come along often. I know there are several commercially available products out there but what is the best for cleaning and treating these roofs.
Cost is not as big an issue as doing the job right the first time. The MH has always been stored inside and the roof has been kept clean. I want to remove whatever got on it while sitting outside this season before I put it into under cover storage for the winter season. October 1 to May 1.

Cleaning: best option is a bucket of water, soap, and a soft brush. Just clean it the old fashioned way, cause throwing money at it sometimes isn't the best option.
For treatment, use any RV product that is stated for EPDM roofs.

Someone told me to go to a "Dollar Store" and buy a couple bottles of cheap shampoo to clean it with. I'm not so sure about this. Some of these products have conditioners in them some do not. I don't want to use a strong cleaner which would remove any preservative in the roof causing it to dry out, crack or peel.
It is not about wasting money or the cost, just doing it correctly. The roof looks perfect now and I want to keep it that way.

Hogwash! "Harsh" means caustic chemicals, like an acid-based concrete cleaner, or abrasives. Heck, Dicor recommends Tilex for cleaning if very dirty or moldy. Read the Diucor EPDM care instructions here:
https://dicorproducts.com/catalog/ro...-roofing/#care
You can use any strong household detergent (including Simple Green) and bleach (to remove any mold in the pores of the rubber). Use a soft or medium bristle brush (on a long handle, so you can stand up using it). Then rinse thoroughly. Make sure yu wash/rinse the sides of the RV after, cause the chalky residue from the roof will streak if you don't.

Murphy Oil Soap was (not sure about current) recommended by Newmar for use on their Britec Roof. What you Do Not want to use is any product that contains Petroleum byproducts.
After cleaning, give it a treatment with Aerospace 303 for UV Protection.
Dicor also has some very good products.

I keep advocating the use of a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser Mop and maybe some dish washing liquid. Ever since I discovered how great it works on a rubber roof, I'll never use a brush again.

Simple Green does have citric acid in it, and my rv manual says to not use that on the sinks, toilet, etc. which are plastic. Not sure about on rubber. The manufacturer of my roof membrane says to use Spic-N-Span which can be found at the Dollar store or Amazon.

Did you miss the period. Simple Green has citric acid in it and that's a no no according to Dicor.

You're right, a bit under 0.2% concentration when used as recommended.
