Using a garden sprayer permits you to drive to a gravel parking lot to clean the engine. You've got water onboard so there's no problems to solve. The Gunk instructions say to warm the engine first anyway. My problem is how to lift the extra-thick mattress enough to access the engine bay_.
BTW, I modified my garden sprayer by drilling a hole and installing a tire valve stem in the neck so I can pressurize the sprayer without effort.(DW says I'm lazy, I say innovative) I just air it up until the popoff valve releases excess pressure.

I use Simple Green Concentrate- Rinse with warm water.
