Question CO / LP Atwood Gas Detector

I have an Atwood CO/LP Model 36636 Detector installed and would like to check the date on the back of the unit. How do you remove the front cover in order to get to the mounting screws? There are 2 small slit openings on the top and bottom of the cover. Is there a special tool necessary to remove the cover without breaking it? I have attached a picture of the unit. Thanks

The front bezel just snaps off, the mounting screws are underneath. Just tug.
