Coach on Fire in Florida

CNN news showed a coach on fire this am. The report stated it started at the rt front tire. A repairman for RV's came to the rescue for the family members, getting them out. What a terrible situation. It would be interesting to know many of the details that led up to this. They were going on a long journey. The video is available on a search for rv fire.
How do you put out a tire fire??? I have heard it is very difficult.. seems to be true.

Wait a minute, tires just don't catch on fire all by themselves. Something else caused the wheel/ tire to overheat.

Most likely a severely under-inflated tire that had heated up to the temperature at which a tire will self destruct and catch fire. Unfortunately once a tire reaches that point it is impossible to overcome the chemical reaction and put out the fire.

The coach was doomed!

Thank God that no one perished because of this situation.

For those people not using a reliable TPMS, take notice.

The local story here in Florida stated that they thought the tire shreaded and broke the fuel line to the generator causing the massive fire.
