Cold weather caused fresh water to fill tank
My coach started dumping water from the fresh water tank overflow after a night where temperatures dipped just below freezing. It acts like the valve between fill and normal (pass through) might have gotten stuck in the fill direction. It doesn't seem loose in any way that would cause this failure. I've had other sub-freezing mornings without this issue. Thanks.

Same here, the check valve in the pump failed after freezing, back filling the fresh tank.
I have a valve between the house system and the tank that can be closed.
Had to change the pump.

It's working normally now. But another night of sub-freezing temps so we'll see if it happens again.

Disconnect your city water hose. Operate from the tank, turning the pump off when not needed.

City water is getting past the city/fill valve or the check valve in the water pump.

The "subfreezing temperatures" should not have anything to do with it. Water can get into the tank two ways. The valve you mentioned and the water pump check valve. It's already been mentioned about the water pump, so I will mention the valve. On my coach the switching valve has a black plastic handle. That handle stripped out where the valve shaft was screwed into the handle. I thought the valve was turned off, but because of the stripped handle the valve was partially open allowing water to slowly enter the tank. I made new metal handles where I can actually see the valve stem turning.
When the temperatures drop close to freezing I disconnect my coach water hose, store it and use water from the tank.

May have to ask Thor. If not, using a 50 watt bulb in that area may work. (I use one with a metal reflector)
Always a good idea to drain and stow water hose if temps fcst below freezing. Trying to put away a frozen 25 ft hose when you want to get underway can be a chore.
Post your RV make/model in your signature, someone here may know your systems.

Sometimes it's not easy to determine if the wet bay is heated or not. As Hooligan indicated, you may have to contact the manufacturer.
Couple of thoughts. If you use external heat be it a light bulb or small electric heater, make sure the heat source is far enough away from anything plastic like the tanks, plumbing or wiring.
I use a wireless indoor/outdoor thermometer to monitor the temperature "down there". I can then turn on a 75 watt bulb mounted in a trouble light or a small 250 watt forced air heater.
Good luck, and enjoy the weather.
