condensor fan short
the condenser fan was not working so I checked the fuse and it was blown. when I replaced the fuse it blew right away- I know I need to look for the short but was hoping to getsome guidance on where to start.

If the fan is accessible , you need to make sure the is nothing jamming the blades. Small stones can get into the shroud and stop the blades, blowing the fuse.
If the blades don't spin when you move them with your finger tip ,and there is nothing jamming the blades, the motor is probably seized.
If the fan spins free then you need wiring diagrams to see if anything else is powered from that fuse.

When I bought my used coach the fuse for the dash air condenser fan would blow each time I replaced it because the fan motor had failed....(the internal magnets had separated from the case).
I removed the fan and took it to an AutoZone store.
They had an exact replacement fan.

if fan blade spins free....disconnect wiring to fan....replace fuse...turn system on...see if fuse blows....if not...reconnect fan wiring....if fuse blows....you have a bad fan motor....if fuse blows with fan motor disconnected...it will be time to dig into the wiring

A jammed fan will not blow the fuse right away. Now a shorted fan motor will

unplugged it from the fan and the fuse did not blow- plugged the fan back in and it blew instantly. got the fan assembly off and can't figure out how to get the blade removed from the fan motor.

The new fan I got at AutoZone came as a complete unit, (shroud/grill, blade and motor).

Just had to fix mine. The motor brush wire had rubbed through. I was able to take it apart and repair. No parts were available close by. I think I had to pull a small pin out to get the blade off. Mark the blade so you get it back on correctly. Mine was designed to be able to push or pull by just turning it over.

Lucky!
The motor on mine destroyed itself internally.
A local electric motor shop said it was not repairable.
BTW, mine can be changed from a pusher to a puller by simply reversing the wires.

I went to AutoZone and saw that unit- my only concern is my motor is sealed and the AutoZone one had openings in the motor housing - my concern is water, road debris getting inside the motor and causing it to fail-

The one I got at AutoZone, is 12 years old and I have driven 100k miles since I put it in, however, I can't remember whether or not it had any openings in the motor housing.
Your original fan had a sealed motor.... how did that work out for you?
