Tires on the coach are 265/75-22.5 on Alcoa wheels. Looking for the general consensus on what it costs to dismount and remount a set of six tires. I'm in Northern Nevada but this may take place while on the road.

I have an opportunity to swap some six month old tires off the rig and replace at no cost with tires from my race car tire sponsor. Trying to determine if it's worth the effort or should I just wait until I actually need them.

What say the crowd?

I paid just $50/tire a few months ago and was surprised it was so low. This was in Phoenix at a truck tire center.
And no fee for disposal.

I had the old powder balancing material removed from my tires and balancing beads put in a few months ago. They charged me $25 per tire.

Wow, I assume the beads were extra. Did you notice any difference in handling/vibration?

I just had 6 new tires put on and they charged me $31 per tire for dismount and mount.
$50 per tire to spin balance. This was in BC mind you.

How much does the balance beads cost?? There is mechanics around that will come to my garage an change them for about nothing if I help them. The front, don't have to take the wheels off the coach, just take the tire off the wheel. If my compressor will air up enough to set the bead. these mechanics change coal truck tires everyday.

Some shops include the powder/beads in a fixed "balancing" price. Others charge for the powder/beads itself, but there should be no additional "balance" charge if they do.

When I last bought tires (295/80R22.5), some dealers quoted around $50/tire for "mount and balance". Others quoted $25/tire for mounting and my choice of balancing prices, including "none". The guy I bought from just gave an "out the door" price for the tires, including mount & balance, so I don't know how the individual costs.

Yep, I provided the beads. I bought a jar of Crosman High-Impact 6mm seamless airsoft BB's at Walmart for about $15 which provided enough beads for 3 tires, as well as I remember. I just weighed out the correct amount for my size tires. It's smooth as can be!

BTW, they did not have to remove the tire from the rim. They just broke the seal, held the rubber away from the rim, and poured in the beads!

How do you know how much BB's in each tire? How long will they last? Do you need special valve cores like is needed for beads/powder?

I went to the Dynabeads website and looked up how many ounces they recommend for my size tires. Then I just used a postage scale and weighed out the BB's in plastic sandwich bags.

Since those are high-impact plastic I think they will last a lot longer than me!

No, you don't need any special valve cores. They are much larger than that!

Switching gears slightly from my original topic, I've used airsoft style BBs in my offroad vehicle tires for years with good success. If they're driven on the road with any frequency, it's nice to have them balance internally as the lead weights tend to be ripped off on rocks an leave you with an out of balance tire. The typical airsoft BB container will show the diameter of the BB as well as the weight so it's fairly easy to figure out how many you have. The next step is figuring out how many you need.
