Couch removal

We FT and removed the couch to install a recliner in our 2008 Damon Challenger. Next year we are buying a new MH and we were told by another camper that removing the couch will hurt the trade in value. Has anyone come across this or was I being fed a line?

Not sure, but I kept the couch and recliner I removed for that very reason. The issue you may run into is what you like someone else might not. Also, our couch was the second bed so in effect the coach will only sleep two as we currently have it configured.

I don't see why it would automatically hurt resale value. Could it? Maybe? But if your prospective buyer doesn't know that there was a couch, they wouldn't know. Even if they knew there was a couch, if they think the change from a couch to a recliner was a good option, they might not care. You may have narrowed the number of potential buyers if it now sleeps/sits less people.

We took the hide a bed out of our '02 DSDP and replaced it with two LaZBoy recliners, also took the oversized leather rocker recliner out and replaced it with another LaZBoy. Didn't seem to hurt the trade value as they either gave us $20,000 over NADA blue book or gave us NADA and took $20,000 off the asking price. Either way we were happy with it.

we removed our couch and replaced it with two Lazyboys and moved the TV into a custom cabinet across from the recliners.
We made the change to suit us. When we go to sell, it all depends on who the buyer is. They may not like it or, they may find it suits them also.
Resale value did not enter into the discussion.

We kept the couch, offered both floor plans when we sold it. The new buyer wanted the desk and recliner, sold the couch on Craigslist in 10 minutes. Big demand for RV furniture in my area.

Took me a couple of months but I was asking a pretty penny for it. CL is the best. It paid for my leather recliner though in the end.
Sold my dinette benches that way too.

I don't think you can get any lower than "trade in value". The dealer always try and steal in from you anyway.

I like a recliner better than the couch, but just to be safe I'd keep the couch to go with the RV when selling just in case that's what a seriously interested buyer wanted.

The couch in my 2012 Winnebago Vista T, 31 ft was a joke, too short to sleep on, uncomfortable to sit on, and the hide-away bed was a real pain. So I took it out and added two rather cheap lazeboy recliners. Its a tight fit,but their super for watching TV, reading and napping.
