Cruise Control - 1999 Monaco Diplomat

Our 1999 Monaco Diplomat has a Cruise control issue.
The repair shop can't find the module to see if it is broken or not.
I have spend so much money on this coach already that I'm getting worried whether I'm being ripped off or not

Translators7,
It would be helpful to know what engine you have and if your coach is equipped with the smart wheel feature for lights, wipers & cruise controls on the steering wheel.

I have a 2001 Monaco Dynasty with a Cummins ISC350 and equipped with the smart wheel feature that has the smart wheel module mounted in the front electrical run bay, located under the driver and accessible through an outside basement door directly under the driver. I had a similar problem with the cruise control not functioning and it turned out to be a very simple fix, that being a loose connection at the electrical wiring harness connector where it plugs into the module. I removed and reinstalled the electrical connector a couple times and prior to the last connection, coated the contacts with di-electric grease, and problem solved.

If you need a replacement smart wheel control module, they are redily available from VIPWHEELS.COM, Antioch, IL at 847-395-7250. I have talked to their tech support group and they are very helpful.

Regarding the location, Monaco tech support at 1-800-283-0869 should be able to help you to determine the location of the control module.

Hope this helps and happy RV'g.

Yukon Jack

Depending on whether its an ISB or ISC, it should be a Cruise King from King Air Controls. It is a rectangular box mounted in the engine bay (passenger side above the frame rail) and contected to the engine throttle control.

If you pressure wash the engine/trans without covering the cruise control box, it tends to cause cruise control problems.

Danny,
My previous RV was a 1995 Monaco Dynasty with a Cummins C8.3T (300 HP) and it was a mechanical fuel delivery system that used a King Control cruise control system that as Vito.a (previous posting) indicated, it consisted of a rectangular black box that has a PTO type cable to make a connection between the control box and the throttle linkage for the injection pump. Mine was mounted in the engine compartment, on the front (forward) wall of the perimeter bed frame since that coach did not have a bedroom slide.

If you have this feature, below is the web site where you can get information about these cruise conrol systems and they can be reached at 507-334-0250.

Cruise Controls for Diesel engines.

Hope this may be of some assisance in your quest to get your Cruise Control system back working again.

cruise

had a problem and spent lots of $ ended up being the toad was wired wrong and caused the coach to think the brake light was on so cruise wouldn't work. Make sure the brake light isn't on. my two cents
