Cruise control on while towing?

As we are still new with towing a vehicle, I have many questions about towing. I have been reading the motorhome and towed vehicle manual as well as reading articles and forums. One thing I haven't come across is using the cruise control.
How many of you use your cruise control while towing your vehicle? Is there a problem using it, with the exception of up and down mountains of course.

Just did 3000 miles round trip Michigan to Florida and back. Our toad weight then was about 3100 lbs. (just upgraded our toad and now weighs in at about 3500 lbs). Cruise on the entire way except the hills.

Alway have the cruise on. Give it a boost with my foot, if the speed starts dropping.

Cruise control on while towing?

Cruise control works great with a diesel and an Alison transmission tow my my GMC Terrain......and if necessary I can continue to shift gears to accommodate my speed when climbing hills but when going down hill.....in a car cruise control tends to lay off the gas to maintain the same speed where in my diesel, while it may lay off the gas, the weight just keeps pushing it so tap cruise off and turn on your engine brake.

I pull an 8000 lb enclosed car hauler and run with the cruise all the time. However, i think that if you are on the hills you may get better MPG's if you go off cruise and run the throttle. It will hold you back some on the down hills, and I like to build up a little steam before i go up a big incline and the cruise will not do that.

Why would you not use cruise control while towing?

Cruise is on about 90% of the time, towing or not.

Because there may be conditions (like going up a hill) where the cruise will want to accelerate to keep the speed even and that can use up a lot more fuel. If traffic permits I will keep the gas pedal down steady when climbing a hill and yes it slows down but will give you the benefit of better mileage. Totally depends on road conditions.
