Cruise Control problem

I just noticed a problem with our cruise control. Normally, when I tap the brakes it disengages, allows the MH to slow down allowing a subsequent Resume. What happens now is that it almost seems to speed up when I tap the brakes. Even if I press hard on the pedal, the CC doesn't disengage. I have to turn it off and then back on when I want to resume.

We just finished replacing all of our flooring and re-carpeted the cockpit. Is there something that might have been knocked loose around the brake pedal that is causing this? The brakes work fine and the cruise works fine, except for this glitch.

'98 Newmar Dutch Star, Cummins 5.9 front engine, Allison 6 speed transmission, FreightLiner Chassis.

You have either dislodged the brake light wire or the switch has gone bad. Check if your brake lights come on when you press the pedal.

If you have air brakes, your brake switch is below the floor on the back side of the brake treadle. It would be hard to mess it up with a flooring change in the coach. If you have hydraulic brakes, there should be a switch on the pedal somewhere above the floor.

Check for blown fuse in the brake light circuit.

Call the Freightliner Help Desk (free service). Have the last 6 digits of your VIN number available. They can help you troubleshoot the problem. 1 800 385-4357

Brake Lights Work

I went to the RV storage building and tried the brakes. The lights come on just as they should. I guess I'll have to talk to FreightLiner about the problem.
