Cummins 300 General ??

I recently purchased my first Motorhome, a 2003 Newmar 3352 Diesel Pusher with a Cummins 300. On my 2004 Cummins dodge trk I must drain the water out of the fuel/water seperator every fill-up.

Do I have a simular task on the Motorhome when filling up? Are there any other tips you can offer me as a new MH driver? We will be taking our first "day-trip" this weekend to start learning the vehicle. We have some small "make ready" issues that are owed to us and we want to see if we can "shake-out" any other issues before returning to the dealer.

I don't have a Cummins but did have a 2001 Dodge with a Cummins diesel. I almost never found water in the fuel separator and I put 130,000 miles on it. I have had three diesel motor homes since then and have not found water in the separators. If you are finding a lot of water in the pick up you might try a different fuel station to see if the problem goes away. Sorry I can not help with the concern or the other items you mention but suggest you go slow and enjoy the views.

Yikes!! I agree with 1ciderdog. If you are draining water out of your filter at every fill up find a new supplier quickly. There is absolutely no reason to drain at that frequency. Is there an indicator light in your dash that lights up when there is water in the filter??

Based on the location of my fuel/water separator I would have never purchased the coach if draining water was required.

If you look at the fuel/water separator there should be wires coming out of the bottom to a plug. If this is true you have a sensor in the separator that will light a warning indicator on the dash if water gets to the separator. No light, no worry.
