Cummins 350 overheating
National 2008 Tropical LX 36' with a 350 Cummins towing jeep wrangler on recent trip developed heating issue while pulling grade. When pulling to stop temp gauge and warning indicator would almost immediately go down and off.I did put gallon of anti freeze in radiator and then continued on trip. Coming home I had same issues. No water found in oil, nothing on ground or engine, nothing out overflow tube. Any suggestions?

Could be your radiator is partially plugged. Look through from the engine side while someone shines a flashlight from the rear. Best done at night.

How long since your radiator bank has been cleaned out? As Rhein said, the fins might be clogged with oily dirt, but critters also like to fill in between the units (you probably have 2 or 3 in a stack back there) with leaves and twigs. I had an issue like that a couple of years ago, took it into a Freightliner shop. Couldn't believe the pile of stuff they pulled out, and the gunk they washed out of the fins.

Sorry I have been unresponsive. My wife currently in hospital due to injury so time is with her. We have rear facing radiator and I have crawled underneath to see what I could see, which is very little of radiator. Thought I could get hose in there to clean. There is a side removable side panel(drivers side) in the rear bin which I have not removed to gain access. It also appears that if I remove bed there is access from top, but do not want to go there.

You might not have a choice to cure the overheating!
Doing the same thing with my wife, liver cancer diagnosed in June so all my spare time is with her.

Clean your radiator but for my cummins 350 ISC the answer is torque. High Rpms (1700-2100). If you down shift manually as you climb keep your Rpms above 1700. You may climb at 35 mph (flashers on). But you should run cooler.
We aren't in a hurry anyway ehh?
