I recently stopped at a dealer to ask about some maint issues. The hourly labor rate posted on the wall was $137. Doesn't take long to add up.

When I had to have a radiator change I requested that the thermostat and water pump be changed at the same time. They basically doubled the price for what I could buy it for on line.

The Air Filter you list can be bought at Napa for ~$115 so the $243 is about right.

Hard pill to swallow when you look at all the rest of the charges. Silly question, what was the total cost for the service???

Cummins 400 oil filter...$243

Thanks! Had other stuff done besides oil but labor was around $100 per hr. Receipt only spells out two filters so I assumed one for the engine oil and one for the genny.......but lots of parts only listed by #. So now I know an air filter costs $243! Had the coach 6 years so I guess it was time.

Oil filter on my ISL 400 is a LF 9009 , about $35 bucks. My 05' Endeavor comes with stock Donaldson AF 1838m air filter about $90 CDN. $243 for oil filter ..... I would ask for an explanation. They can buy there own beer. I use only Fleetguard and Donaldson filters. Lots of friends use WIX or others. Not sure if it really matters besides price but I use OEM filters on any equipment I run.

Don't get me wrong I think $245would be a little high for a oil filter. Most people ask what a service will cost before they have it done if you was happy with the price they can break it down ho they want to. And the oil change place is a RETAIL outlet not amazon I cannot imagine what they pay for garage liability for changing oil on diesels.

Lot's of ripoff on motorhome repair thinking we have a big machine we must pay. It could be the fuel filters, they are a little more expensive, but over $200, they just stealed your money.

I do not mind to pay for a specialist work for special problems, but paying big dollars for day to day routine maintenance like an oil change is insane. You do not need any specialist to do these task. An oil filter is an oil filter, screw off, screw on while he drains the oil. Put oil back in, samething on any vehicle, lawn mower to motorhome.

I pay around $12 for my oil filter on my 300 cummins, I bring the MH to Walmart and they do the oil change, 15W40 Rotella, grease all the fittings and check all fluid for $75.

Even if you are happy with the job they did, there is no reason to pay this much for such basic work.

I did not know WalMart would do an oil change and lube job on a DP!

Your filter, their oil and grease and labor for $75?

Or, just the labor for $75?

5 Gallons of Rotella would be about $70 at our WalMart!

I had the same thoughts as Deandec. In my wildest dreams I would not have considered taking my MH to Wallyworld.

LF9009 in our ISC 350 is about $30 at Filter Barn. Free shipping over $100 and that is easy to do when you get all of your filters at once.

Something is definitely wrong if just a filter was $243. Even the air filter in ours that is about the size of a compact car was only $135. The $243 is about on par with what a dealer would charge for a complete oil change though.
