Cummins ISX low coolant on VMS
Drove home from a 10 day stay. MH sitting beside house, leveled out. Stored for about a month.
Started engine to back out and got the same error message numerous times on my VMS 400 CL.
111 1 1 Low Coolant
then
111 1 2 Low Coolant
Coolant is right at the full mark. What should I check for?

I had a similar warning that actually cut back on engine performance. It turned out to be the level sensor the overflow tank. When I replaced it with a new one, the warning went away and the performance went back to normal.

I've heard that it can derate the engine. I'm going to have to do some digging since I have yet to see where a sensor could be located.

I have had the engine de rate as well and at a very bad time. Coolant was low due to the factory forgetting to put on a hose clamp

Found the sensor and jiggled the connection trying to take wires off. Can't do it as I need a couple more double jointed hands. Ran the engine for a while and didn't get any more codes so may just have been a bad connection.
Anyway, Greg just called and the sensor is being shipped today.

"Mr_D".....In the past, there have been some issues where the sensor itself just needed some cleaning. If it happens again, try and pull the sensor and lightly sand the end of the sensor (metallic part).

I keep a can of contact cleaner and dielectric grease. That helps with poor connections sometimes.

So do I, didn't get to use them before it resolved itself by just wiggling the connection.

On my trip from FL back north this year I had the sensor go out on me 300 miles into the trip. Derated the engine and at first thought it was just coolant level but long story short, it turned out to be the sensor. Stopped at the Jacksonville Cummins center and they quickly replaced it in minutes for me (great guys there for sure). Charged me for the part only and I went on my way without any issues afterwards.

Do you have the part number? I may carry one just in case.

Had a coolant sensor issue also, full coolant, not over heating. Jumped the plug with a paper clip still went off. Checked wiring and found a loose ground wire.

I think it's specific to each engine. I wound up calling Spartan and explained the situation and they gave me a cross-reference number that they said the Cummins shop should be able to lookup. Funny thing was, the first guy in the parts dept. immediately said, we don't have it, then another guy said give me the number, he looked something up, gave the other guy a new number and the other guy then goes, oh, I have 5 of them!
I probably have the number but unfortunately it's in the RV which is in the shop. Won't see it for another week probably
