re. Dashcams

Hi from Australia

I guess anyone now without a dash cam is foolish to say the very least.

Ok so we drive here on the left... but..

On our last A class trip, we had a vehicle come up to a Give Way sign on our left. They had to give way to us being on their right

As we approached, it slowed. stopped then as we reached the intersection it came right thru the intersection in front of us!
With our car being A Framed behind us we had no ability to swerve to avoid hitting this vehicle - car versus A Class is a no contest.
Luckily our dashcam recorded the whole event.. before, during and after....inc. my dear wife's screams as the other vehicle hit us, then flew backwards spewing oil, water and steam and with it front half totally redesigned.

Score was.. A Class = one bent bull bar but the other vehicle = a write off.

Insurance company was given a copy of the dash cam video - other driver has no excuse, as seen to be totally liable for the crash. Saved a lot of trouble all round.

I have a dashcam in every one of my 4 vehicles - brand is not as important as quality. Get the highest quality video camera because if you can't read the numberplate of a vehicle in front of you when playing back the video on a PC, how are you going to use it as evidence of "who dunit" in the event of a crash??..Yours or someone elses??

Wish you all safe travelling over there Stateside

I happy to hear you folks came out of this unharmed.
My wife was backed into when waiting to pull into traffic from a shopping mall. The tow pin on our car punctured the guys bumper. We payed for him hitting her. Now we are paying double our insurance rate on both the car and the coach because of being hit and not having a dash cam.
Looking for one now. Trying to get educated.
