I don't have a for sure answer for your problem but in my research of my problem with my dash gauges not working it has led me to the VDC as being my problem. In reading up on the VDC it seems it also controls the dash lights. Since it sounds like you are new to this the VDC is the computer that controls all your gauges such as oil pressure, volts, fuel, temp, tach, speedo as well as your air gauges. Three days ago I had also never heard of the VDC but am getting intimately familiar with it.
Hope your problem is something much simpler, good luck.
