Dash temperature controls

I have a 1995 Beaver Patriot with two issues. First the dash temperature controls stopped working. The cable came off the arm on the back off the controller in the dash and I am not sure how to reattach it. Second is that the botons for bilevel, ac, max, defrost, etc have not effect. It is a Spartan chassis and the controls look like early 1990‘s GM controls. Any help or pictures would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Many RV manufacturers use Evan Tempcon HVAC controls.
Evans Tempcon, Inc

You might check with them and see if you see a matching control panel. If it is a GM control, I'd suggest a salvage yard for a replacement part.

First, you might check for vacuum. The vent motors all work on vacuum. If vacuum fails, the vents default to the defrost vents. If that's the only place air comes out, I'd suspect vacuum. If it's a diesel, it has a electric vacuum pump probably in front of the windshield. With ignition on, you should hear the pump.

The actual dash unit quite likely did come from some car, maybe the 90's GM you mentioned. Evans Tempcon probably made the other HVAC system components, but RV makers usually used a spiffy dash control panel from GM or Ford.

Thanks

Thanks for the advice on the vacuum pump. I found that and cleaned it. Then I found ice in the line from the pump to the reservoir. I got the ice out and it all works now. One hour and no cost. I like that.

Well done!

Thanks for posting the result.

I have found most repairs do not involve parts changing on my rig over 14 years of ownership.
