Dead Battery?????

I have a 40 foot Phaeton with a 360 Cummins Engine and a 6 speed Allison Transmission.
Yesterday I turned on the key and nothing happened. No noise no lights. So I hit auxilliary start and it light up the main area in front and the backup camera and said
No J 1939 Data.
Any thoughts as to what I problem is and whether the problem is a dead battery and some kind of a short or lack of connection between the coach battery and the engine battery?

Sounds like you may have a charge solenoid problem. It is used to enable your engine alternator to charge your house batteries while going down the road, and also to provide the aux start by connecting your house and chassis batteries to give you a starting boost. If your chassis batteries are really dead, it will take a while for the aux start to juice them up enough to start your engine. If that solenoid is bad you never will get aux power to help you start. I don't know what year your phaeton is, but mine is located in the rear passenger compartment above the inverter. When you push the aux start button, the solenoid should click. You can jumper across that solenoid if it is not working and temporarily combine the battery banks that way. Good luck. Steve
