Deck Air Conditioner Dryer

New to the forum and to motorhome ownership. I purchased my "new to me" 1994 Pace Arrow, Ford 460 motorhome about 6 weeks ago and it has sat at the mechanic's for almost all that time while the mechanic searches for an air conditioner dryer

The unique feature of this dryer is that it has a valve in it. There's also a valve in the hose and both apparently need to open for the air to work.

Can you guys help me find a dryer? I've begun to lose face with my wife and family over this purchase because I have not had possession of my motorhome since I purchased it

Thanks.

Welcome to iRV2.

Sorry you're here with problems.

Does the shop have a number off the existing part?
Could you post a picture of what you need ?
Do you see the name Evans/Tempcon on any portion of the dash A/C assembly, under the dash or above the engine on the outside of the firewall?

In that coach & year, it should be an Evans Tempcon system. Don't know if they still make that particular dryer anymore, though. If not, I guess an RV salvage yard is your only choice. Try visionerv.com or colawrvsalvage.com.

There are others too - just Google RV salvage

The reciever/dryer should be readily available by any automotive parts house that sells a/c parts. Go to NAPA.

Just googled it. If it is a Evans tempcon system go to evanstempcon.com or call them if further help is needed.

Obsolete Part

Fleetwood tells me that it is a Ford part. Ford tells me the part is obsolete.
Used part dealers say not to install a used dryer.
What to do?

Can I just use the "house" air conditioner and run the generator all the time?

A lot of us run the generator while driving to run one or two of the house air conditioners.

In this heat the dash ac is of little help anyway

Post a pic of it. But normally it just dries and clean the freon. Some has barbs to hold the hose and some has b-nuts on them. Some has a sight gauge and some don't. The working end is the expansion valve on the evaporator.
