DEF at Pilot/FlyJ How to do it?
I fuel up easily but now I'm new to DEF. I fuel up then pull up to the little DEF door and try to buy DEF; it hasn't worked the only two times I needed DEF. I have to go inside and have the clerk turn the pump on for DEF only. I know it has to be easier that that. What am I doing wrong?

That's about the way it works. I haven't found any other way yet than the long walk in and out

You swipe your card...
enter your pin...
Answer the tractor/reefer/both question...
Then select DEF.
Now begin fueling...
When you're done fueling...replace the Diesel Knozzle. Then remove the DEF nozzle from it's Holder. I have to quickly pull my coach forward at this point.
Dispense the DEF... and return the DEF knozzle when done.
That's it.

It's much easier if you have the FlyingJ/Pilot Credit card. The discount can be as much as 9cents a gallon. But more important, when you get that credit card you are given a Pin number and its that magic pin that will let you do it all at the pump. The exact procedure is as was described above.
By the way for those that may not have the card, its a no carry balance card. Basically, the entire amount is due each billing cycle.
Oh yea, you also get a discount at their dump station.

Same procedure as above work with a Good Sam card... it's not a credit card.

So, after I fuel I take the DEF nozzle lay it on the ground, move the RV up to it and pump the DEF. That is simple enough to stump me! Thanks all.

I started the wife driving this way. Just moving the coach a few feet at a time, then a little further, and further,, and further. Now you have one that can move the coach from the pump to a parking space at the truck stop.

I also have the Pilot/Flying J credit card through Good Sam that lets me pay at the pump for the full amount of my fuel and DEF without having to "go inside." Since my DEF tank is behind the rear wheel and my fuel fill is up front, I have found it easier to first swipe my card for (tractor) fuel only. Once I'm done fueling I pull the coach forward and swipe the card again for DEF only.
I originally tried to do it all at once, but found it difficult to move forward and change nozzles within the allotted time. The small amount of extra time required to swipe the card a second time is not an inconvenience for me.

Yeah,
I have to do it twice also since I have to pull out, then back the coach in the fuel island, Truckers waiting love me when I have to do this.
I try to keep enough DEF in storage (5gal) so when the islands are busy I don't have to do the clown act.

Sounds like it requires a "deft" technique to pull this off.

Your Good Sam card turns on the pumps in the truck lanes?

Good info. I have been reluctant to experiment with the DEF at the pump. Now I know what to do.
