DEF fluid cost.. Where cheapest

I'm paying $5.15 for two gallons at Bucees in central Texas. I carried 3 extra tubs with me this trip so plenty on hand but I can see in future I'll be buying somewhere else.

Walmart prices are the best I've seen other than at truck stop pumps.

Just wondering,
Since our coach, an '07 C-7 330HP CAT, doesn't use any of that DEF, what is the user rate per a given time frame/mileage that, you need to carry so much of it? I was lead to believe that it lasts for quite a while.

My tank holds 7.5 gallons is good for at least 2000-2500 miles. It varies according to load, hills etc.

Truck stop DEF pumps right at the fuel island will be the cheapest.

The usage rate according to Cummins Diesel is 1 to 2 gallons of DEF per every 100 gallons of diesel fuel. Since most DEF tanks hold 12 or 13 gallons that would equate to approximately 800 gallons of fuel for every tank of DEF or 6400 miles of driving per tank of DEF @ a fuel consumption rate of 8 mpg.

I just figured my usage. I'm getting 419 miles per gallon.
I know the new Ram 2500-3500 trucks with DEF get better fuel economy than a non def truck. I have 2012 3500 duelly that I deleted everything on, last year with out def. Mt friends 2015 DEF Ram, equipped the same, gets better MPG.
I can out run and out pull though.

I agree. Much less expensive, and probably fresher. I keep one 2.5 gal jug in the basement (for emergencies). Other than that, I fill my DEF tank at truck stops after fueling up with diesel.

Typical price at the truck stop pumps is $2.79 per gallon. That would come out to $6.98 for 2.5 gallons, a typical container size purchased at other retailers, including Walmart. At Walmart I'm paying $7.88 for 2.5 gallons, or about 90 cents more. I just find the containers more convenient than having to move the coach after fueling it to top off the DEF tank. To each their own.

Cummins said to expect roughly 2% DEF to fuel, at least for the 450 that came with our 2010 Revolution. We realized just under that (less DEF). That translates to 1 gallon of DEF for every 50 gallons of fuel. We had a 150 gallon fuel tank, a 10 gallon DEF tank. At 7 miles per gallon of fuel we had a theoretical 1000 mile range in fuel, about a 3500 mile range with our DEF. Somewhere between 800 and 900 miles down the road the DEF gauge would drop to 3/4s of a tank and at our next stop I'd dump one of the containers I carry with me in to top it off. Next time we happened to be at a Walmart I'd replace what I'd used.

So far it looks like the 600 in our new rig is using about twice what the 450 did, or about 4% DEF to fuel. It has a 15 gallon DEF tank, I'm still getting at least 7 mpg. Same 1000 mile range on fuel would theoretically require 6 gallons of DEF giving me a DEF range of 2500 miles. While I could fill the new coach DEF tank from the driver's side, it would still require I pull up after fueling to do so. So far I've elected to stay with the same "buy at Walmart" plan, I just buy two jugs when doing so instead of one.

Actually, that price sounds pretty cheap. The price at Sam's is $10.49 for 2.5 gallons for the Blue DEF brand which comes out to $4.20 per gallon.

For those of you carrying extra DEF in your basement just in case, I hope you're rotating it because of DEF's shelf life period.

DEF

Wally world costs $7.36/2.5 gallon jug.
Seems to work as well as any. 67% water and 33% urea.
Makes a boy wonder about repurposing his own!?
