Just curious.....Any of you folks have a Detroit and what are your opinions of them? Or, if you don't, same question...

I haven't "seen" a Detroit since our last American LaFrance was placed OOS in '00...

Good engine... solid, durable and most any diesel mechanic can work on it.

Detroit Diesel is a subsidiary of DamilierChrysler and thus all new engines are badged as MBE's and used in Freightliner, who is also a sub of DC, products where end user accepts in FCCC offerings for motorhomes.

The Detroit Series 60 engines are still sold under the Detroit name and they are standard equipment in Prevosts, among other large coach makes and models.

I had an 8V92TA in my 1986 Bluebird. Now have a series 60 in the current coach. Both were strong running dependable engines. The series 60 is surprisingly economical in heavy applications.
