Diesel generator question

Recently the primer on our diesel generator (Onan - Fleetwood Discovery) has started turning on unexpectedly. The gen start button in the control panel wil have a red light glowing in the center and you can hear something run. When you push the light it goes out and the noise stops. But later on it again comes back on. Any thoughts?

If it's fairly new, it may have auto start when batteries get below preset voltage.

That makes sense. It's been on shore power for some time and the batteries showed full charge. Is the auto start feature something that can be turned off?

If it's not the auto start feature then if it were my problem I would look at the harness connector near the gen set. It will be a multi pin connector. Disco it and spray the connectors with electronics cleaner. Reassemble.

It was the auto start! It has the Onan Auto start control box in the control panel and it was set for "on", turned it off and hopefully we are ok. Thanks so much!
