Difference between 1, 2 & 3 point slam locks?

A compartment slam lock broke. I see Trimark lists 1, 2 and 3 point slam locks. What's the difference?

my 2 cents, pulled the lock out and there will be a part number for a replacement. Normally they are held in by 2 bolts. I don't know the difference, so I'm sorry I can't help.

I think it may be the number of bolts that hold the door closed. Some have one, two and three points that the lock handle must pull back the bolt(s) to release the door.

The "points" are locations on the mechanism that are used to actuate the lock. There may be several to accommodate actuator rods that come from different directions, power lock actuators, etc. Most of them are holes drilled through lever arms.
