We just purchased a King Quest Directv portable dome and will have the receiver installed next week. We went with Directv because we already have an account with them in our home. If you like SPORTS like we do then Directv is the only way to go! Dish has had some issues this past summer with the local affiliate stations contracts(NBC, FOX etc...).

That's kind of like Ford or Chevy. I can only say I have a few friends who left Dish and signing up with DTV because their issues weren't resolved except when a check was written. But I suppose you could get the same story from the other side of the tracks. I have DTV and have for 16-17 years. When something breaks, they fix it immediately. We had a receiver go out (again!) and they just shipped me another one. Said dispose of the old one, so I got an extra power cord and remote and they are in the MH.

Seems you need to find folks that have had both. I've only had Directv and love it.

We love our Direct at home and while traveling. Lots of reasons, but being too old and lazy to learn new channel #'s is probably the biggest.

They both suck in the customer service department. We've had Dish for over 20 years or so. Back when we had dome antennas, it was the only way to go to get HD. Now with the travler antenna, it doesn't really matter.

We have Dish Network both at home and the Coach. I use the Winegard Pathway X2 portable dish exclusively since it can be moved away from obstructions that always seem to block the view of those tiny satellites circling 22,000 miles above us.
BTW we have always had good customer service with them.

if you get the traveler direct tv unit it can be converted to Dish the dish one cannot be converted to direct. That is what I was told I converted my direct tv antennae to dish since thats what I had at home. I've had both don't see much both too expensive for what you get.

Question, if you have a DVR in your bedroom at home can you watch those recorded programs on the Direct TV receiver in the rig while on the road?

It is cheaper and easier to get HD with Dish than DTV. We had DTV but will go with Dish because you can turn it on or off depending on your situation.

Sounds like a Winegard Travler, right?
It was a Ford vs Chevy debate until DISH introduced the Hopper 3, a 16-tuner Whole House (or RV) DVR. The DirecTV equivalent, Genie, can't touch it.

Yes, ordering a Newmar 43' Dutch Star & Newmar will install the Traver as an option.

Also, I may want to stop service when not using the coach & someone said Dish has that option?
