We also subscribe to DirecTV's DNS service. We had changed our billing address to our Escapees mail forwarding address long ago; we just left it that way. Money gets sucked auto-magically out of our checking account each month so billing address is kinduva moot point, IMO. \ken

OK first of all its called Direct Network Service. Currently it available ONLY if you do not have a stick and brick address/ and receivers from that house. Essentially a fulltimers.
You will receive your major channel programming based on your billing address. Generally if your address falls in the western 2 time zones your programming will come out of LA. If the eastern 2 time zone it will come out of NY.
Once you have filled out and faxed the needed paper work to DirecTV it will be turned on and you will automatically receive your channels. There is nothing for you to tune in.
Those of us who receive feeds from both coasts are DNS customers from prior to about 2009 or 2010. After that date new DNS only receive one feed

We have been changing our "local channels" several times a year since 1997. Never had a problem till this Fall when we returned home. I got the dumbest person I've ever talked to in my life. After 50 min on the phone I hung up and called back. Got a different person and 5 mins later I was switched over.
I wonder if the ATT take over has screwed up their service department with new people.

Yes, I also receive my Pittsburgh locals. When in FL, a few times, I changed my Pittsburgh locals to Tampa or Jacksonville to pick up a Steeler game.

I just use park cable for local or our antenna. Not worth the hassle to call.

Actually Dish network had it's DNS service cancelled by the FCC because they were too liberal in switching addresses and giving accounts to people who were not mobile. Direct has a DNS service but of course you need to pay for it.

So don't blame Direct because you are trying to scam the system.

It is amazing how many folks got off on talking about DNS rather than what the OP asked about LOCAL CHANNELS. Apples and Oranges. It's like asking "What time is it?" and the answer comes back "Purple"
